This is my final design of the contents page, compared to the previous blog post I changes the colours of the numbers to pink as I felt its almost a house style because I had pink font on my magazine cover.

I decided after panning that having my double page set out like this it looked fluent, and it was fitting with the idea of a theme for my magazine. Through out the double page spread I tried to have a rule of three; meaning there was three different colours, and the banners were separated by three different colours. The text and title are also in sets of three.

Iv chosen metallic colours and specific magazine front covers for my mood board as im wanting it to look suave and professional. I want my magazine to look like a mixture of Vogue and Billboard, I have chosen the name Glimmer as I think it sounds catchy and also it reminded me of a star as they Glimmer, and my magazine will be featuring lots of star celebrities.

I didn't use any props using the photo-shoot as I wanted to keep it looking as professional as I possibly could, the set target for my magazine photography is to be clean and tidy looking.

The above is my cover and contents page for my student magazine, I am hitting my target audience of college students aged 16-18 by advertising things that are going on in college on both the cover and contents. My cover features a current student (Sereena Khan) this will make the students reading it feel involved with the magazine as they may know her. Her facial expression on the contents page is very playful and will make people want to come to the college, it gives it a nice atmosphere. I featured a picture of one of Prior Pursgloves newer buildings so the students can get a feel of the architecture and the eye catching buildings. I enjoyed making my cover and contents page and found it was a learning experience.

I chose image 4 for the cover photo:

I made sure I took the photo at a mid shot and a mid angle, I wanted the viewers to feel like the picture was inviting and realistic, rather than a birds eye view.  I asked Sereena to smile and look relaxed as I thought It cold make the photo look more natural.



I went on to edit this photo:

I edited the photo in photo shop, I brightened the back group as I thought it would make her stand out more, I also changed the colour of her eyes as I thought this may draw in the viewers attention more. I also removed blemishes using the smoothing tool.

For this photo shoot we had to go around the college and take photos practising our framing, composition and shot size when taking photos. We had to try and make the photographs look like they had been taken professionally.

 

 

 

 

The photo above is the one I edited, the first one is un edited and the second is edited. I edited it in photo shop by cropping the image so that the focus was on Sereena and the Prior Pursglove College sign. I also edited the gradient and brightness to make it seem more sunny and appealing to people.  

 

Preliminary Task

For the preliminary task we had to create our college magazine front cover and contents page. We were set into groups and provided with cameras, each person within their groups used someone as a model to take pictures of. I then downloaded those photos onto the computer and opened them in Photoshop, I then went onto editing our photograph that I took, in the Photoshop app. I had to make sure they were edited to a standard of which would appear on the cover of a magazine. Photos for a contents page were also edited in Photoshop. 


After all of the editing was complete, I designed the front cover and contents page on In Design using my newly edited photos. I made sure my front cover and contents page where just how I wanted them with the right fonts and font sizes, I made sure the two looked professional.
