question 5 How did i apeal to and attract my target audience?
My target audience is shown below on my readership profile
I conducted a focus group with members of my target audience, to find out how I attracted them to the magazine.
The girls said the colour scheme applies to young adults as it was quite elegant which applied to young adults and not teenagers, this is exactly what I was going for as I thought using colours such as gold and bronze would make it look more age appropriate than colours such as pink and purple.
They also pointed out that with a younger female being on the cover it reaches them specifically and I knew that if I was to use an older model it may apply to an older audience.
They said the content appeals to them because it talks about a young persons life, and that is what they are living, there for comparisons can be made.
They said adding the social life helps getting closer to the artist, giving more exclusiveness and bringing a wider audience. This is exactly what I wanted as I knew the uk music magazines didn't focus to much on the artists, only on the music. There for what I wanted was happening.
They said the layout of my images were good and it looks professional the way they have been captured. This was important as I did pay more attention towards the detail of the photos. The different edits on my double page spread was mentioned which I was happy about as I wanted it to stand out.

Question 4 Who would be the audience for your media product?
I think its important for all media products to have an audience for example if your making a magazine and filling it with makeup advise your target audience should be predominantly girls because that's whose going to be buying it, you need a target audience to sell your product to. A magazine aimed at girls would also have a girly design e.g pretty colours, pretty fonts.
People tend to use Demographics and VALs to determine there target audiences for the media product. They do this so they can understand as much about there audience as possible, the more information they collect the better. This helps because they can aim there product more specifically at the audience selected. They will also use this info to put in their readership profile if their product is a magazine like mine.
Below is an example of my readership profile.
I introduced my readership profile as part of my planning, I did this because it helped me gain a bigger understanding of my target audience. I need this for my magazine to be successful so for me my magazine is predominantly female readers.
The age group for my magazine is 17-35
My median age is 26
As a generalisation the type of people who read my magazine have an interest in fashion and pop culture.
I selected this group as my target audience as I feel this will be the most successful audience to hit. The audience is the most common for the type of magazine I am producing.

question 3 what kind of institution might distribute your media product
An alternative way of distributing my magazine would be to copy what NME (time inc) has decided to do, by targeting readership areas and providing free copies and digital copies of the magazine. This worked for NME as there readership figures increased but I would have to fund my magazine through advertising and other ventures.
